With split tongue,sharpened teeth, implants in the eyebrows and lizard-like green scales tattooed over 90% of his skin surface the Lizardman is a contemporary version of the freakshow performers who travelled America a hundred years ago.Until four years ago, getting a tattoo in Massachusetts was banned. Tattooing had been illegal since 1962 but in February 2001,tattooing became legal once again. Once zoning battles were won and the permits obtained,it didn't take long for Boston to establish itself as a hub for body art. At the third annual Boston Tattoo Convention hundreds of New England tattoo artists descended on the Boston Center for the Arts for a weekend of all things skin and ink and body decorating. This body-art convention included contests, vendors, galleries, piercings, tattoo removal and artists' shops.
